Forms of Dietary Supplements

Soft-shelled (elastic) capsules are used for packing liquids (chiefly oils) and suspensions (pulverised solid substances dispersed in oily liquid). Water extracts are not encapsulated as large water concentrations might dissolve the coating of the capsule. Encapsulation of a liquid supplement masks its unpleasant taste or smell, and makes it easier to swallow. The colour of the capsule may be adjusted to the Client's needs by adding appropriate food dyes. Soft-shelled capsules ensure accurate dosage of the dietary supplement and effectively protects the supplement from light and changes caused by oxidation.

Gelatin hard-shelled (two-piece) capsules are used for packing powdery dietary supplements (powders, pellets).

It is the most economical form for a dietary supplement. Owing to the technology applied in producing hard-shelled capsules, the amount of auxiliary substances is much smaller than supplements in tablet form.

Saszetki są opakowaniem foliowym, termozgrzewalnym z możliwością zadrukowania. Doskonale nadają się do pakowania kilkugramowych dawek suplementów diety.

The sachets are heat-sealable, with printable foil packaging. They are perfect for packaging dietary supplements in doses of several kilograms.

The foil used for the production of sachets ensures excellent barrier properties and protects the product against solar radiation. Due to their high mechanical resistance and very good sealability, the sachets ensure that the product remains permanently sealed.

Owing to the application of laser techniques, the tearing marks make the sachet easy to open.

The large surface of the sachets is perfectly suited for displaying content and graphic elements as regards the dietary supplements.

The capacity of the sachets varies from several grams to several kilograms.

Sachet types: a flat sachet, stick and doypack.

Saszetki typu stick

Sachets contain (depending on the product) from 1 to 10 grams.

IOC specialises in stick-type sachets.

The dimensions: width of 24 or 36 millimeters (depending on the device). The height depends on the filling, with a minimum of 40 and maximum of 150 millimeters. Thus the dimensions of the smallest sachet we offer are 24 x 40 millimeters, whereas the largest are 36 x 150 millimeters.

The minimum order quantity is 200 thousand sachets with one type of print and filling (e.g. 6,600 packets of a given supplement, each containing 30 sachets).

Sachets can be used to store both powder and liquid products.

Tablets as a form of dietary supplement are produced by pressing a mixture of the active ingredients together with auxiliary substances.

They are usually in the form of discs, flat or convex on either side, differing in diameter, thickness and weight.

Tablets may have a different shape, have marks or furrows imprinted on them to enable splitting.

Small bottles are a convenient and economical form of packaging that ideally protect dietary supplements during transport and storage. Depending on the bottle capacity they can hold from 30 to 120 capsules or tablets. Vials have a large surface area for labelling the dietary supplements. They are made of HDPE, LDPE and PP materials. The most commonly used capacities for packaging dietary supplements range from 25 to 150ml.

Blisters allow for packaging several pieces of the product in a manner that makes it easy for carrying. There are 10 - 15 tablets/capsules in a blister sheet on average. The advantage of a blister is a separate closure for each dose of the supplement. Blisters are made from PVC, PVC/PVDC, PVC/PE/PVDC and closed with a convenient, easy-to-open aluminium foil. Sets of blister sheets (e.g. with a monthly supplementation) are packaged in unit cartons that allow labelling and provide room for supplement descriptions. If required, the package can be supplied with an information leaflet.

Bags enable packaging from a few dekagrams to a few kilograms of the supplement in one package. Flat bags, standing bags with a side crease or Doypack sachets are made of stratified foil: paper, aluminium, polypropylene, polyethylene or polyester, finished in white, pearl white, metallised or transparent.
